The topographic map of France used to be divided into 10 areas, now it has been released as 4 areas. Each area is a separate product. The images below show the recent and the new layout of the areas. There is also a topographic map of all of France available.

The departements 75,77,78,91-95 (Paris and vicinity) are covered by the area north-west as well as north-east.

Specifications and System Requirements:
These products provide all features described under MapSource to exchange data between a PC and a GARMIN GPS receiver and supports autorouting ("autorouting" = the computer or GPS finds the fastest or shortest path from the start to the final destination automatically). This is a detailed list of the main features:
- Basic features: Manage GPS data on a PC, exchange data between a PC and a GPS receiver.
- Autorouting on a PC: Computes routes on a computer. These routes can be transferred to a GPS device.
- Map: Topographic map of the particular area of France, shows elevation contours and natural features. Each area is divided into a number of detailed maps which can be transferred to any GPS device which is capable to display maps according to the available memory. In order to transfer maps, they must be unlocked for that particular unit, except maps on uSD/SD memory cards, which are ready to be used immediately on any GPS device with an uSD or SD card slot.
- Autorouting: This product is particularly designed for the GARMIN models of the
Colorado- and Oregon-series, Edge 605/705, eTrex C/Cx/HC/HCx-series, GPSMAP60-series, GPSMAP76-series,
Nuvi-series, StreetPilot-series, Zumo-series, cfQue 1620 as well as GPS10/18/20 with nRoute or MobilePC
because it supports the autorouting feature of these products.
- Packaging:
- Recent version with 10 areas: One CDrom including a customer code which allows you to request a free unlock code for your GPS (an Internet connection is required to register and unlock the maps). Does not include a cable for data exchange, if you need such a connection cable, see our selection of options.
- New version with 4 areas: DVD plus uSD/SD memory card with pre-installed maps (an Internet connection is required to activate the maps on your computer).

- Disk space: 2 GB for a full installation.
Transferring one or more maps to a GPS device which supports maps adds the following features to the GPS:
- Significant increase of the level of details: The transferred maps overlay the built-in map on the areas they cover. Outside these areas, the built-in map is still available.
- Extended search functions: Find cities all over France.
- Autorouting on the GPS: The maps of this product support the autorouting feature of the GPS models which are capable of computing routes.

If MapSource should fail to start after installing the demo or full version, we provide a BAT-file to fix that problem. Unpack the file fix-registry-fr-topo.zip and execute the script fix-registry-fr-topo_08.bat. You need to execute this script only once. Re-installing MapSource won't fix the problem. |
