The SUUNTO X6HRM provides 5 main functions with various sub-functions:
Time keeping
- Time and date, calendar pre-programmed up to the year 2089
- Dual time
- Three alarms, go off daily or on a particular date
- Stop watch with unlimited number of split times, see chrono
Digital Compass
- Heading in degrees and in clear text; resolution 1°
- Continuously updated
- Shows deviation from pre-set direction
- Clinometer; measuring range 0..60°, rsp. 0..173%; resolution 1°; accuracy 10% of the inclination angle
Weather
- Temperature measuring range: -20 .. +60°C, rsp. -5 .. +140°F; resolution 1°C, rsp. 1°F
- Air pressure measuring range: 300 .. 1100 mBar, rsp. 8.90 .. 32.40 inHg; resolution: 1 mBar, rsp. 0.05 inHg
- Adjustable pressure on sea level
- Automatic 48 hours logging of the air pressure for trend analysis
- Weather alarm: Goes off if the air pressure drops more than 4 mBar, rsp. 0.188 inHg during the last 3 hours
- Temperature compensation
- Transfer the weather data to a PC for further analysis, see SUUNTO Activity Manager (SAM)
Hiking
- Elevation measuring range : -500 .. +9000 m, rsp. -1600 .. +29500 feet; resolution: 1 m, rsp. 3 feet
- Measures the current vertical ascent or descent speed
- Differential measuring: Shows the current elevation gain or loss and the elapsed time since the last reset
- Altitude alarm: Goes off if a user selected altitude gets passed
- Ascent/descent alarm: Goes off if a user selected ascent or descent speed gets exceeded
- Logbook function: Accumulates total ascent and descent every 10 seconds. Maintains up to 20 logbooks with the following entries:
- Date and time, total time, number of ascents
- Average vertical ascent speed and total ascent
- Average vertical descent speed and total descent
- Minimum and maximum altitude
- Up to 10 marks per logbook (current time and elevation stored when pressing a single button, review these marks on the PC later)
- Transfer logbooks to PC for archiving and analyzing, see SUUNTO Activity Manager (SAM)
Chrono
- Stop watch with unlimited number of split times, the number of saved split times depends on the available memory
- Reminder: Repeating alarm with user selected interval
- Shows current altitude or air pressure depending on user's selection
- Heart rate monitor (pulse) (HRM):
- Range: 30 ... 240 heart beats per minute
- Adjustable upper and lower limit for heart beat rate with acoustic alarm when current value gets outside limits.
- Stores heart beat rate when used together with stop watch
- Compatible with Polar sensors
- Logbook function: Records time and elevation every 2, 10 or 60 seconds. The available memory supports 4 hours and 20 minutes of recording with 2 seconds interval, 22 hours of recording with 10 seconds interval, rsp. 133 hours of recording with 60 seconds interval. Maintains the following entries:
- Date and time
- Average vertical ascent speed and total ascent
- Average vertical descent speed and total descent
- Minimum and maximum altitude
- Total time and number of split times
- Minimum, average and maximum heart beat rate (given that you wore the heart beat sensor)
- Transfer logbooks to PC for archiving and analyzing, see SUUNTO Activity Manager (SAM)

Software to transfer, archive and numerically or graphically analyze data that was gathered with a SUUNTO X6HRM on a PC. CDrom with SAM software and a connection cable are included with SUUNTO X6HRM.

Main features:
- Users: Manage data of multiple SUUNTO watches on the same PC, optionally protect your data with a password.
- Data transfer: Transfer weather, hiking and chrono logbooks plus heart rate monitor data from a SUUNTO X6HRM to a PC. Check and maintain the settings of the watch (units, date format etc.)
- Data Analysis: Display the data in a table or a diagramm, e.g. the air pressure over the last 48 hours (weather), the elevation profile of a hike (hiking), the total and the split times of your last run (chrono) etc.
Update:
An updated version of the SUUNTO Activity Manager (SAM) is available for download. It provides now a user interface in the following languages: French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.
