Firmware: V2.70 - V2.60 - V2.50 - V2.40 - V2.30 - V2.20

The following lists of changes are based on information provided by GARMIN. Changes or improvements which we consider important or especially useful are shown highlighted.

To view the current firmware version, complete the following steps:

  1. Press and hold the page/menu button for at least three seconds (see countdown)
  2. Scroll to "About" by pressing the start/stop button once
  3. Press "OK" (page/menu button)
  4. The system will display the firmware version at the first row ("SW").
  5. Press "OK" (page/menu button) to exit About

Each upgrade replaces the complete firmware in the GPS, which means you need to install only the version you wish to apply. There is no need to install any previous versions.


Changes made from version 2.60 to 2.70:

  1. Fixed an issue where the device could display a blank screen while connected to the charger.

Changes made from version 2.50 to 2.60:

  1. Improved system response when starting an activity and the device is full of activities. To improve performance when viewing history it is recommended that you periodically remove old activities.
  2. Added a method to delete all activities after the delete activity prompt in history. The delete activity prompt is accessed by pressing the start/stop and lap/reset buttons simultaneously while viewing history.
  3. Added check to prevent SW update starting if battery voltage is too low.
  4. Changes to support manufacturing.

Changes made from version 2.40 to 2.50:

  1. Fixed some instances that could cause the device to report that zero calories were burned during an activity.
  2. Fixed an issue that could cause an activity file to not be closed correctly and thus not upload successfully to Garmin Connect or Garmin Training Center.
  3. Fixed an issue where a the device could incorrectly connect to another user's HR monitor.
  4. Added Auto Lap option of 3.1 miles or 5 km.
  5. Changed to record heart rate data even more frequently when GPS is off.
  6. Updated Russian fonts and translations.

Changes made from version 2.30 to 2.40:

  1. Fixed issue where heart rate display could drop out periodically.
  2. Updated German translation for "Locating Satellites" and "Lost Satellite Reception".
  3. Updated Czech translation for the Czech language.

  1. Fixed issue that caused all data to be deleted if the watch locked up while connected to a computer.
  2. Added support for improved Firstbeat calorie calculations.

Changes made from version 2.00 to 2.20:

  1. Fixed issue where the watch could freeze when dropping a lap.
  2. Fixed issue where the current activity file could fail to save.
  3. Changed to allow the watch to show the current activity in history.
  4. Changed history page to show "Today," "Yesterday," or the day of the week for the last six days rather than the date.
  5. Added feature to turn off the watch by holding the light key and answering yes to the prompt.
  6. Changed to allow all menus/lists to wrap.
  7. Updated translations.
