Firmware: V2.50 - V2.40 - V2.30 - V2.20 - V2.10

The following lists of changes are based on information provided by GARMIN. Changes or improvements which we consider important or especially useful are shown highlighted.

To view the current firmware version, complete the following steps:

  1. Unlock the device by pressing the "start/stop" button if necessary.
  2. Touch "menu" on the bezel for more than 2 seconds.
  3. Select "Settings".
  4. Select "System".
  5. Select "About".
  6. The system will display the firmware version at the second row ("Software Version").
  7. Press the "lap/reset" button to quit the screen.

Each upgrade replaces the complete firmware in the GPS, which means you need to install only the version you wish to apply. There is no need to install any previous versions.


Changes made from version 2.40 to 2.50:

There will be two updates sent to your watch. The first update will improve the reliability of software transfers from ANT Agent. The second update includes the changes listed below for software version 2.40. The first update will take 2-3 minutes, and the second update will take 10-15 minutes. ANT Agent will automatically start the second update after the first one is finished.

Changes made from version 2.30 to 2.40:

  1. Added Venezuela and Australia-Lord Howe Island time zones.
  2. Fixed problem where Daylight Saving Time setting could get set back to default when switching between Time1 and Time2.
  3. Display 100 locations instead of 50 in the list of locations to go to since 100 locations can be saved.
  4. Fixed possible lockup issue that could occur when creating a lap.
  5. Fixed problem where course goal time incorrectly included paused time.
  6. Updated translations.

Changes made from version 2.20 to 2.30:

  1. Increased trackpoint resolution when turning or changing speeds.
  2. Fixed issue where low or zero speed could be recorded at turns.
  3. Fixed issue where poor GPS reception could cause an incorrect distance in the track log.
  4. Updated translations.
  5. Changes to support manufacturing.

Changes made from version 2.10 to 2.20:

  1. Added timeout setting to the Training Options menu that disables the automatic timeout to power save mode when the watch is in training mode.
  2. Changed all settings in the Training Options menu to be specific to the current sport mode setting.
  3. Changed implementation of time1/time2 to use time2 as the overall system time when the user chooses to switch. (In order to start using a second time zone, you will need to enable time2 in the time settings menu. After time2 is enabled, you can switch between time1 and time2 by pressing and holding the enter button while viewing the time/date page.).
  4. Made adjustments to instantaneous pace filtering.
  5. Calculate calories, averages, and Virtual Partner time ahead/behind only when not auto paused.
  6. Added small navigation arrow on course timer page.
  7. Added locating satellites page before allowing user to mark location or mark position for the mark and lap auto lap by position option to ensure that the user's current location is the one that is saved.
  8. Improved reliability of unit-to-unit transfers.
  9. Fixed issue where watch could freeze with bezel, accessories, and GPS not working.
  10. Fixed issues that could occur when using back to start feature.
  11. Corrected issues related to using the foot pod and GPS at the same time.
  12. Fixed issue where auto pause would not work if GPS was off and user was using only a foot pod or a bike sensor and not a heart rate monitor.
  13. Corrected issue with auto wheel size calibration for bike sensor.
  14. Fixed issue where total times greater than 24 hours could be displayed incorrectly on the totals page.
  15. Prevent start/stop or lap/reset from triggering if one button is released before the other after locking the bezel.
  16. Automatically classify activities with a foot pod as running and activities with a bike sensor as biking before sending data to the computer.
  17. Updated translations.
