The following lists of changes are based on information provided by GARMIN. Changes or improvements which we consider important or especially useful are shown highlighted.

To view the current firmware version, complete the following steps:

  1. Turn on the GPS.
  2. Switch to the main menu. Press the Mode-button until you get to the main menu page.
  3. Select "Settings" and press the enter key.
  4. Select "About Forerunner" and press the enter key.
  5. The system will display the firmware version at the first row ("Software Version").
  6. Press the enter key to return to the previous page.

Each upgrade replaces the complete firmware in the GPS, which means you need to install only the version you wish to apply. There is no need to install any previous versions.

  1. Minor improvements related to Bluetooth smartphone connections.

Changes made from version 2.50 to 2.70:

  1. Add support for Connect IQ 1.0.1 watch faces and data fields. The active watch face can be selected in Settings => System => Clock => Watch Face. Up to two Connect IQ data fields can be added to each activity profile in Activity Settings => Data Screens.
  2. Add support for Connect IQ watch face and data field installation and management through the Garmin Connect Mobile smartphone app.
  3. Update Activity Tracking distance and calories in pool and open water swim profiles.
  4. Improve barometer calibration to eliminate noticeable elevation offsets on some activities.
  5. Add support for creating ski/snowboard activity profiles. Displays speed, distance, vertical drop, and includes an automatic run counter (with Auto Pause for the lift line).
