This product contains a world map, see examples below. It provides all features described under MapSource, which are:

• Basic features: Manage GPS data on a PC, exchange data between a PC and a GPS device.
• Map areas: The map is divided into 2153 areas and requires a total of 197.9 MB memory on a GPS, but a single area requires not more than 1.39 MB. Depending on the amount of memory available in the GPS device, one or more areas can be transferred to any GARMIN GPS device that supports maps.
• Increased of the level of details: If there is a built-in map, then the areas of the world map which are transferred to the GPS, will overlay the built-in map. Outside these areas, the built-in map is still available. Most GPS devices support enabling and disabling maps, so you can easily switch between multiple maps. If your GPS device supports profiles, then you can bind different maps to different profiles.
• Extended search functions: Find cities and POIs (mountains, airports).
• Packaging: One CDrom plus a user's manual in German and in English (no unlock code required). Does not include a cable for data exchange, if you need such a connection cable, see our selection of options.

A very helpful supplement to the program MapSource is the software GARMIN BaseCamp, see MapSource versus BaseCamp. It is available for download free of charge. This is especially true if you are using a GPS from one of the following model series: Colorado, Dakota, etrex 10/20/30, Montana, Oregon or GPSmap 62.

Remark: There are dedicated maps available for various regions, which are much more detailed and may even support autorouting, for example for Canada, USA, Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Topographical maps with additional geographical features are available for some countries, for example for Canada, USA, Croatia, Germany, France and Switzerland.
